Max Ignas grew up in Honolulu and is a trumpet player based in Boston.

Max started with piano and music theory at age six and credits those as the major influences for his musical intuition. He started playing trumpet soon after which ignited a zeal for performance.

Max channels his passion into performance while expanding the trumpet’s aesthetic portfolio. He has played recitals and solo engagements throughout the United States, being praised for his intimate, artistic, and virtuosic performances. A new music enthusiast, Max collaborates with composers to expand the repertoire of the trumpet. He has premiered numerous works for solo trumpet, trumpet and electronics, trumpet ensemble, brass quintet, and many other works for varying ensembles. In addition to new music, Max has performed with ensembles specializing in music from the Baroque period and programmed recitals featuring all-baroque works.

Max is Principal Trumpet in the Berkshire Symphony. He has performed and recorded with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Emmanuel Music, Boston Philharmonic, New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, Vermont Symphony Orchestra, Bangor Symphony Orchestra, Oklahoma City Philharmonic, the Orchestra of the Americas, and at the Grand Teton Music Festival.

Max is the Visiting Lecturer of Trumpet at Salem State University as well as the Artist Associate in Trumpet and Co-Director of the Brass Ensemble at Williams College. He is currently finishing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the New England Conservatory of Music where he is the first classical trumpet player admitted to the NEC doctoral program
